Technical Business Analyst

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Business Analyst who can not only design and build decision trees in GoRules.io but also interpret clinical study protocols and implement inclusion and exclusion criteria into our decision logic. In this role, you will bridge the gap between clinical operations and technical systems, translating complex protocol requirements into structured, automated decision logic that supports eligibility assessments and other rule-driven workflows.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Analyze and interpret clinical study protocols, extracting relevant eligibility criteria and operational rules.
  • Design, build, and maintain decision trees and rule logic in GoRules.io to support study eligibility, screening, and other automated decisions.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, data managers, and developers to ensure accurate representation of inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Create and maintain documentation, logic flows, and mappings for rules implemented in GoRules.io.
  • Work with QA and engineering teams to validate and test rule outcomes against expected behavior.
  • Continuously optimize rule structures to ensure performance, scalability, and alignment with evolving protocol amendments.
  • Support impact assessments and change management when study criteria or business rules change.
  • Champion best practices around decision modeling, rule governance, and traceability.

Physical Requirements

  • This role requires 100% of the work to be performed in a remote office environment and the ability to use keyboards and other computer equipment.

Travel Requirements

  • This is a remote position with less than 10% travel requirements. Occasional planned travel may be required as part of the role.

What You Bring

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with GoRules.io or similar rule/decision management platforms (e.g., Drools, DMN, InRule).
  • Ability to read and interpret clinical study protocols and understand inclusion/exclusion logic.
  • Strong logical thinking and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Experience translating narrative or complex requirements into structured decision logic.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to read and manipulate JSON

Preferred:

  • Background in clinical trials, life sciences, healthcare, or a regulated industry.
  • Experience working with clinical operations, regulatory, or medical affairs teams.
  • Familiarity with eligibility workflows and patient screening systems.
  • Understanding of data models and clinical terminology (e.g., ICD codes, MedDRA, CDISC standards).
