To evaluate patients admitted to the ward by taking complete history, performing pertinent physical examinations, and documenting all findings in the HMIS.
To undertake morning, evening, and night ward rounds daily, preferably with a nursing staff member when available, ensuring patients are visited where appropriate.
To record patient progress and events in the HMIS system following ward rounds, examinations, communications, or procedures.
To seek advice from senior team members regarding patient health issues.

To discuss discharge medications with patients and prepare discharge summaries.
All patient medical information must be kept confidential and respected at all levels; Medical Officers shall not disclose information.
To provide urgent medical attention and treatment to staff or visitors in case of accidents or sudden illness, in liaison with the medical team.
To remain on hospital premises during duty hours. If an RMO/SMO does not attend, the previous MO must stay until a replacement is found to ensure continuous coverage.
