Working Hours: (UK Time)

Salary Range: 275,000 – 350,000 (based on experience and qualifications)

Role Overview:

We're seeking a proactive and experienced Account Senior / Portfolio Assistant to become a key member of our collaborative team. This role is ideal for an ACCA-qualified professional eager to manage client relationships, deliver high-quality accounting and advisory services, and contribute to our client-first culture in a fast-paced practice environment. ACCA qualified is compulsory for this postion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting tasks for a portfolio of SME and sole trader clients.
  • Prepare statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT returns, and corporation tax computations.
  • Liaise directly with clients, providing clear, practical, and professional advice on accounting and tax matters.
  • Oversee client onboarding processes, including setup, risk assessment, and documentation completion.
  • Review the work of junior team members, offering constructive feedback, guidance, and mentoring.
  • Assist the Client Portfolio Manager with workflow management, planning, and client service improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, accounting standards, and internal quality controls.
  • Contribute actively to internal process improvements and client service innovations.

Key Requirements Essential:

  • ACCA qualified, with 2–4 years of experience in a UK accountancy practice.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards (FRS 102/105) and corporate tax regulations.
  • Practical working knowledge of cloud accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills, with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented attitude and adaptability within a smaller practice setting.
  • Experience preparing personal tax returns and handling self-assessments.
  • Familiarity with professional services sector clients (legal, consulting, medical).
  • Knowledge of workflow management systems like AccountancyManager or Senta.
