About the Role

Mission

  • Build and extend the core features of a dynamic social-networking platform.
  • Develop the technical architecture and features for a real-time e-sports tournament system, including live brackets, real-time chat, and push notifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop plug-ins and custom modules using MVC, event-driven, and hook-based architectures.
  • Create a modern single-page front-end application using React or Vue, integrated with REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Implement real-time functionality including chat, live bracket updates, and push notifications via WebSockets / Socket.IO.
  • Integrate social login capabilities and OAuth 2.0 for authentication and authorization.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, code reviews, and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Must-Have Technical SkillsBack-End (PHP)

  • PHP 8.1+, Composer, PSR Standards, OOP
  • PHPUnit for testing
  • Static analysis tools like PHPStan or Psalm
  • Deep understanding of plug-in development, event/hook systems, view overrides, and routing

Database

  • MySQL 8.0+
  • Proficient in writing optimized queries and using migrations

Front-End

  • jQuery familiarity (if not already, fast adaptability is expected)

Security

  • Knowledge of XSS/CSRF protection

APIs

  • Familiarity with OAuth and JWT flows

Nice to Have (Bonus Skills)

  • Node.js 18+ for real-time infrastructure
  • Experience with Socket.IO or bare WebSockets
  • Understanding of horizontal scaling strategies
  • Experience with GraphQL and Apollo
  • Familiarity with tournament logic (bracket generation, seeding, scoring, tie-breaks)
  • Front-end: React + Vite or Next.js (SSR), React-Query or SWR for data-fetching

Tools & Workflow

  • YouTrack – Task and issue tracking
  • Notion – Internal documentation (Runbooks, architecture, onboarding)

Soft Skills & Ways of Working

  • Experience working in Scrum or Kanban environments
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Comfortable with CI/CD culture and collaborative code reviews
  • Proficient in English (B2 or higher) for daily technical collaboration
