
Accounts Assistant

- Perform bookkeeping tasks for medical and SME clients.
- Assist in the preparation of annual accounts for individual practitioners and businesses.
- Prepare and file VAT returns in compliance with UK regulations.
- Maintain and update financial records using Excel spreadsheets and accounting software.

- Attention to Detail ensuring accuracy in financial statements, tax computations, and supporting schedules, with minimal review points.
- Able to keep confidentiality of the data Capable of identifying errors, inconsistencies, or areas needing clarification in client books and records.
- Ability to positively engage and communicate with team members and managers at all levels.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a professional accountancy setting.
- Confident.
- A pro-active approach with the ability to show personal drive and enthusiasm.
- Proficiency in Accounting Software such as FreeAgent, Xero, CCH. Basic understanding of UK VAT rules and filing processes via HMRC portals.
- Strong planning, organization, and administration skills.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Comfortable with preparing working papers and reconciling control accounts (bank, VAT, payroll, debtors, creditors).
- Keeps up to date with changing UK tax legislation (e.g., IR35, MTD for ITSA) and adapts work processes accordingly.
