I. Position Information

Job title: Senior Coordinator – Research, Learning, and Evaluation

Location: Aahung Karachi Office

II. Organizational and Position Information

Aahung is a non-profit organization founded in 1994. Aahung uses a rights-based approach to improve the quality of sexual and reproductive health services provided in Pakistan to men, women, and young people.

Aahung collaborates with partner institutions with the aim of building the capacity and knowledge base of service providers comprised of doctors, nurses, government health workers, community and field workers, teachers, and parents.

III. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities and Duties/Results Expected

Detail of key functions

• Lead the planning and implementation of ongoing research studies, including oversight of fieldwork, quality assurance, and timelines.
• Conduct advanced qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis and synthesize findings for strategic learning and donor engagement.
• Lead drafting of research outputs, including manuscripts, abstracts, policy briefs, and donor-facing learning products.
• Support program design and strategy by contributing to logical framework development, theories of change, and evidence-based conceptualization.
• Provide high-level grant writing support by leading literature reviews, drafting indicators, and contributing to donor proposals.
• Develop and refine data collection tools for needs assessments, evaluations, and monitoring studies, in coordination with program teams.
• Oversee the implementation of Aahung's M&E system, including indicator tracking, outcome monitoring, and learning reviews.
• Coordinate and contribute to high-quality donor and annual reports, ensuring alignment with M&E data and programmatic goals.
• Liaise with donors, research partners, and external stakeholders on behalf of the RLE team.
• Represent Aahung at national and international research forums, conferences, and learning exchanges.
• Support supervision and capacity-building of junior RLE staff (Assistants, Associates, Interns) in research and M&E tasks.
• Act as the focal point for the RLE department in the absence of the Manager, including coordination with senior management.
• Provide cross-cutting administrative and strategic support to component managers and senior leadership, as needed.

● Experience and understanding of adolescent sexual and reproductive health and sexuality issues.

● Experience and understanding of human rights, reproductive rights, and sexual rights.

● Familiarity with concepts such as empowerment, stigma, discrimination, non-judgmentalism, gender, and social justice

● Displays culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

● Familiarity with reproductive health indicators and situation in Pakistan

● Familiarity with relevant international documents such as the MDGs, ICPD, the Beijing Conference, etc., and Pakistan's commitments to them

● Demonstrable commitment to working with empowerment of sexually marginalized groups (gay, lesbian, transgender, transgender, HIV positive, etc.)

● Respect for confidentiality and ability to adhere to confidentiality policies.

V. Recruitment Qualifications

Education:Bachelor's Degree (Minimum requirement)Experience:– Minimum two years' experience of working in monitoring and evaluation, or academic research project/s on issues related to health, rights, gender, and sexuality.

-Understanding of monitoring and evaluation systems and data collection in public health

-Experience in report writing (writing sample will be requested during interview process)

Language Requirements:-Outstanding written and spoken English skills

-Exceedingly strong documentation and writing skills

-Bilingual in spoken English and Urdu

Skills

1. Knowledge of research theories and methods and creativity in their application
2. Familiarity with designing research studies and developing data collection tools.
3. Experience with IRB review process and publishing research findings
4. Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection.
5. Strong data management and analytical background for both quantitative and qualitative data
6. Strong documentation and record keeping skills
