The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. In addition to the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, AKUH has a network of 4 secondary care hospitals, 30+ Medical Centres, and over 290+ Clinical Laboratories, 30+ Pharmacies in over 120+ cities across Pakistan. It also offers Home Healthcare Services and home deliveries of medicines. The Hospital provides Zakat for those patients who are eligible, and the health systems offers generous Patient Welfare to support those in financial need. In recognition of its high quality and patient safety, the AKUH is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing.

The Nutrition and Food Services Department (NFSD) provides a range of products and services to students, faculty, staff as well as patients and their attendants. It comprises of a team of experienced clinical nutritionists, dietitians, and foodservice professionals. The services are provided through six sections; clinical nutrition, patient meal services, cafeteria & catering services, food production, food safety management and cost control and approximately 13,000-15,000 meals are served in a day.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  1. Cleanliness of cafeterias, kitchen, offices and other places through sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing etc.
  2. Service delivery at cafeteria counter, patient meal service tray line, food production and processing areas as per the instructions.
  3. Collection and elimination of garbage, dispose-off food waste and trash in the designated areas as per the cleaning standards.
  4. Cleaning and sanitizing of pots, pans, equipment, utensils, exhaust food, dirty dishes etc.
  5. Reporting food safety and other related complaints to immediate supervisor.
  6. Assisting in preparation of hot and cold beverages, ala carte and snacks.
  7. Assisting in preparation of various baking and cooking processes related to bakery, hot and cold kitchen.
  8. Assisting in pre-processing of certain foods such as washing, peeling and cutting vegetables and fruits as directed by supervisor.
Requirements

You should have/be:

  1. Matriculate with minimum 6 months to 01 year food service experience of any reputable hotel/hospital/airline/restaurants.
  2. OR Non-Matriculate with minimum 2 to 3 years food service experience of any reputable hotel/hospital/airline/restaurants.
  3. Able to lift heavy objects/equipment like trolleys, trays etc.
  4. Ability to comprehend simple verbal and written instructions in Urdu and English.
  5. Ability to work in a team.
  6. Respectful attitude towards supervisors, colleagues and customers.
