CONSULTANT (SENIOR MERCHANDISER)

Specific Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities

Handle end-to-end knit product development through shipment, ensuring quality, vendor suitability, competitive pricing, and timely delivery.

  • Support knit product development, costing, and price negotiations.
  • Assist in sampling approval processes, ensuring timely submissions and proper execution (lab dips, fabric color, and quality approvals).
  • Follow up regularly on T&A (WIP) and ensure timely reporting of delivery status.
  • Collaborate with buyers, suppliers, and merchandising teams to negotiate prices, quantities, and schedules.
  • Maximize customer interest while maintaining margin levels.
  • Build constructive relationships with customers, suppliers, and channel partners.
  • Ensure vendors/factories schedule inspections promptly.
  • Coordinate with vendors to make timely bookings for VSL/space and ensure cargo is handed over on time.
  • Ensure suppliers provide shipping documents promptly after shipments.
  • Report regularly to business leaders as required.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects such as vendor compliance and documentation.
  • Maintain communication with buyers and merchant teams regarding production and shipment statuses.
  • Follow guidelines for assigned product categories and serve as the key communication link within the business stream.
  • Coordinate operational activities including proto sample development, costing, production tracking, fabric and trim development, and WIP updates.
  • Coordinate price negotiations with suppliers as designated by senior merchandisers or managers.
  • Track critical production paths, forecast delays, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, working with suppliers to propose alternatives.
  • Oversee production in assigned factories, liaising with QA and factory management for quality, inspections, and deadlines.
  • Perform general administrative tasks as required.

Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have

Additional Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in merchandising.
  • Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing, including construction, fabrication, trims, print techniques, knits, and denim products.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines; highly detail-oriented.
  • Professional qualification in a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Excel, etc.
