Purpose

To interact with and create lasting, genuine relationships with every guest, encouraging and earning their loyalty and repeat business, while maintaining a high level of service by leading the baristas on shift.

Guest Service

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Greet all guests with a friendly smile.
  2. Demonstrate passion and confidence for the Second Cup Brand.
  3. Honor guests by providing quick, friendly, and genuine service.
  4. Generate guest satisfaction; respond appropriately to guest concerns.
Product Quality
  1. Ensure that Baristas maintain a high level of Second Cup standards for all product preparation.
  2. Ensure that Baristas follow all Second Cup standard recipes at all times.
  3. Educate guests on Second Cup products and services.
Teamwork
  1. Communicate with coworkers and management to solve issues and improve quality and service.
  2. Be ready to assist baristas during peak business times.
  3. Work with baristas and management to implement positive change.
  4. Contribute to a positive work environment.
  5. Assist in opening and/or closing the café when required.
Cash Handling
  1. Ensure all Baristas follow cash handling procedures during shifts.
  2. Follow business procedures for handling voids and cash handling mistakes.
  3. Reconcile cash and register records at the end of each shift.
Job Challenges
  1. Understanding features and benefits of all Second Cup products.
  2. Memorizing drink recipes.
  3. Handling face-to-face guest complaints.
  4. Understanding and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  5. Maintaining coffee freshness standards while controlling waste.
  6. Engaging in suggestive selling.
  7. Multi-tasking (e.g., cleaning, restocking, deliveries, guest interactions).
  8. Coaching, training, and assisting Baristas during shifts.
  9. Working varied hours/days based on café requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Guest service skills (positive, caring attitude).
  2. Strong teamwork skills.
  3. Cash handling, retail, or food service experience preferred.
  4. Product knowledge.
  5. Selling skills.
  6. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  7. Maintain positive morale and professional attitude at all times.
