Job Title

A Maize Procurement Specialist is required to source good quality raw material for our organization at competitive prices. The role also involves supervising the procurement activities of purchasing agents within and outside the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring competitor's activities in grain markets and reporting to senior management.

  • Verifying that daily maize purchase prices used by commission agents are within authorized limits of the organization.

  • Supervising the filling, sewing, and weight of purchased maize by commission agents.

  • Ensuring continuous monitoring of weighments to achieve business goals.

  • Maintaining communication on a daily basis with senior management, market dynamics, logistical situations, and other relevant market news that will impact corn costs.

  • Facilitating smooth dispatch of maize purchased by agents on approved freight rates.

  • Supervising timely disbursement of payments sent by the organization to vendors or parties from whom maize is purchased.

  • Real-time rate entry in grain markets through mobile phone devices.

  • Conducting crop surveys of spring and autumn seasons for strategic buying planning.

  • Supervising the activities of purchasing agents.

  • Sharing market intelligence with senior management on a regular basis.

  • Maintaining an effective working relationship with all stakeholders.

  • Interacting, executing orders, and reporting transactions under the direction of senior management.

  • Conducting audits of purchasing agents at the end of each season.

  • Participating in learning events for personal growth.

  • Complying with safety guidelines and promoting a safety culture in Grain Markets.
