About the RoleThe Medical Supply Specialist reports to a team leader of the medical team or head of the department as assigned by the country team.
The position will be responsible for managing and dispensing prescribed medication, maintaining stock levels, and compiling reporting on medicine at the health facility or mobile medical team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain accurate records of medicine stocks, including daily/weekly/monthly consumption reports.
- Adhere to prescription instructions and ensure proper labeling of medicines in accordance with global standards.
- Counsel patients on medicine use, time/frequency, route, precautions, expected side effects, and completion of treatment course.
- Maintain temperature-controlled storage and dispensing sites for medicines.
- Collaborate with the pharmacist to ensure timely requests for medicines from the warehouse and prevent stockouts.
- Ensure patient-related information is accurately recorded and registered within provided registers.
- Update bin cards daily and maintain accurate records of medicine consumption.
- Share consumption records with relevant program staff on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed to ensure smooth implementation and integration of services.
- Qualified and registered dispenser from a recognized nursing institute with a valid license to practice or an equivalent qualification acceptable in the country.
- Previous experience in a similar capacity is highly desirable.
- Good communication and public dealing skills are essential.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment.
