Pipeline Integrity Management Role

The purpose of this position is to ensure the protection of assets, including transmission pipelines. This involves conducting detailed inspections at Corrosion Control Transmission (CCT) stations, test points, and pipeline construction projects.


  • Ensure CCT stations operate according to requirements and undertake rectification/maintenance where necessary.
  • Maintain maintenance records.
  • Implement a comprehensive Enterprise Asset Management program to effectively manage assets, minimize downtime, repair costs, and extend asset life.

Cathodic Protection Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for accurately documenting and reporting inspection findings to the test surveys. Additionally, it involves determining corrosion-related problems in the field through organizing surveys, including bi-annual pipe-to-soil potential surveys, direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) surveys of new and old Transmission lines, close interval potential survey (CIPS), fortnightly inspection of Cathodic Protection Stations, periodic technical audit of existing CP System in Transmission, pipeline integrity assessment for external corrosion and CP instruments, and renovation of Ground-bed.


  • Coordinate activities with other service providers/vendors as needed.
  • Implement health assessments of the existing coating system as part of the pipeline integrity assessment program.
  • Develop and arrange coating rehabilitation plans based on the findings and recommendations of the pipeline integrity assessment.

Corrosion Monitoring and Protection Systems

This role involves developing corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems through material specifications, calculations, graphic, and statistical analysis, power assessment, and evaluation of survey data, along with conferencing with departments responsible for contracts, environmental compliance, and right-of-way procurement.


  • Arrange Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for newly laid transmission pipelines.
  • Perform timely renewal of Ground Beds activities based on conditions and requirements.
  • Monitor various field tests, including Pipeline Current Mapping (PCM), Close Interval Potential Survey (CIPS), structure potential, Direct Current Voltage Gradient (DCVG), soil resistivity, current requirements, etc., and plan for recoating of pipelines based on survey results.

System Troubleshooting and Training

This role involves diagnosing and rectifying system difficulties during survey operations, conducting interference testing, coordinating interactions with vendors and customers, preparing reports on surveys and designs, preparing charts and tables for management, and assisting in designing and planning regarding CC for new and existing pipelines.


  • Arrange installation of sacrificial anode systems for pipeline protection against corrosion.
  • Conduct post-installation surveys.
  • Assist in implementing policies, procedures, and rules regarding corrosion control of assets and undertake required corrosion control work for transmission pipelines and systems.

Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you should have a degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university. Experience working in Oil & Gas/Public Sector is preferred. Mandatory qualifications include PEC registration, AMPP(NACE), API, or TWI certification for Cathodic Protection/Coating Inspection.
