Gas Management Expert

The primary objective of this role is to lead and manage the reduction of Un-accounted for Gas (UFG) within our network. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to curb UFG throughout the operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine strategic issues in UFG and demand management, identify alternative options, determine data requirements, and facilitate stakeholders in selecting action steps.
  • Coordinate data gathering from operational departments for analysis to discover points or activities that need to be addressed for minimizing UFG.
  • Advise UFG department personnel on analysis direction and presentation of findings.
  • Provide UFG guidelines to concerned departments/sections to secure gas transmission & distribution related assets.
  • Guide operating departments in setting priorities for system segmentation, theft detection, meter replacement, and system rehabilitation through analyses of leak detection surveys and variations in gas consumption patterns.
  • Review Industrial Surveys reports and prepare analysis on discrepancies in historical gas consumptions.
  • Review Meter Inspection Reports and suggest measures to identify and replace/repair slow meters and improve measurement accuracy.
  • Review leak surveys and rectification targets, gather resources, and increase survey of network in high UFG prone areas and segments.
  • Organize meetings with stakeholders on possible actions for minimization of UFG, facilitate discussions, and work towards an agreed set of actions.
  • Regularly review progress on management's goals and Key Monitoring Indicators to reduce UFG, identify adverse tendencies, and engage concerned departments and entities.
  • Participate in preparation of UFG guidelines for use by operational departments to strengthen security of gas during transmission & distribution.
  • Engage with government to respond to inquiries and concerns about UFG performance and cost-cutting initiatives.
  • Guide the preparation of UFG related KMI Audit plans across SSGC, review plans, identify audit resources, and monitor the finalization of audit checklists.
  • Identify and periodically visit UFG prone sites and Regional Offices for monitoring the conduct of UFG reduction activities.
  • Escalate critical and unresolved issues to CEO and UFG Committee of the Board.
