Job Title: Academic Professional

Role Overview:

  • Meet performance targets to drive academic excellence.
  • Implement high-quality teaching and learning objectives for student satisfaction.
  • Deliver assigned courses according to faculty workload policies to maintain academic rigor.
  • Develop and enhance teaching skills, contributing to curriculum planning and development.
  • Encourage innovative teaching methodologies and facilitate experiential learning experiences.
  • Facilitate critical thinking, debate, and rational discourse among students.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support.
  • Evaluate and assess student work, setting clear expectations and providing constructive feedback.
  • Monitor and record student academic performance for evaluation purposes.
  • Mentor students through a mentoring program, promoting personal and professional growth.
  • Update records and data in virtual learning environments and other required software systems.
  • Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices and participate in departmental activities.
  • Ensure teaching content aligns with the institution's mission and addresses issues related to student needs.
  • Monitor student attendance in classes, labs, and practical sessions.
  • Contribute to publications or disseminate research findings through various media channels.
  • Pursue practical applications of research outcomes.
  • Engage in independent research as principal investigator and project leader.
  • Act as a line manager, supervising team members and PhD students.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Meet annual targets set by the Head of Department (HOD) to drive academic success.
  2. Pursue high-quality teaching and learning objectives as outlined by the Dean/Principal to ensure student satisfaction.
  3. Instruct assigned courses in accordance with faculty workload policies to maintain academic rigor.
  4. Continuously develop and enhance your teaching skills, contributing to curriculum planning and development.
  5. Foster innovative teaching methodologies and facilitate experiential learning experiences for students.
  6. Encourage critical thinking, debate, and rational discourse among students to foster intellectual growth.
  7. Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support where needed.
  8. Evaluate and assess student work, setting clear expectations and providing constructive feedback.
  9. Monitor and record student academic performance for internal evaluation purposes.
  10. Mentor 15-20 students through the Riphah Mentoring Program, promoting personal and professional growth.
  11. Update records and data in virtual learning environments (VLEs) and other required software systems.
  12. Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices and participate in departmental and university committee activities as necessary.
  13. Ensure teaching content and delivery methods align with RIU's mission, addressing issues related to subordinates and student needs.
  14. Monitor student attendance in classes, labs, and practical sessions.
  15. Contribute to publications or disseminate research findings through various media channels.
  16. Pursue practical applications of research outcomes.
  17. Engage in independent research, acting as principal investigator and project leader.
  18. Act as a line manager, supervising team members and PhD students as required.
  19. Perform additional duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Optometry or related field.
  • Proven teaching experience in higher education institutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of educational technologies and software systems.
  • Ability to integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices.
  • Fluency in English language.
