Pharmacists work with healthcare teams to prepare, distribute and dispense medicines. They advise patients on the safe use of drugs and manage medication inventory.

About this Role

This role involves dispensing medications in inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory pharmacies. You will review and process physician orders for accurate therapeutic doses. Laboratory reports will be monitored for proper indication of antibiotics, drug interactions and duplication of same-class drugs.

Timely delivery of medication to nursing units and patients is crucial. Accuracy of labels before dispensing must be verified. Expired dates of drug lists must be completed accurately and on time. Patient counseling for outpatient prescriptions and maintenance of cash is also part of this role.

Preparation of cytotoxic drugs, TPN solutions, IVPB mixtures, sterile injections and bulk compounding is necessary. Chemo-critical lists must be monitored.

Requirements
  • A Doctorate or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university is required.
  • Registration with the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan is necessary.
  • At least one year of experience in a reputable organization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospital pharmacy functioning and processes is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical concepts is required.
  • Knowledge of locally available drugs, pharmaceutical drugs and their indications is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with medical professionals and patients, are crucial.
  • Willingsness to work in shift duties is required.

You will need to be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Effective communication skills are essential. Time management and organizational skills are necessary to ensure timely delivery of medication.
