The role of an Engineer in Gas Transmission is a vital one.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Senior Engineer in our Gas Transmission team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to conduct and supervise all operations and maintenance tasks on the SSGC Gas Transmission Network in assigned regions, headquarter offices for the smooth delivery of natural gas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective operation and maintenance plans for the Gas Transmission Network
  • Conduct pressure profiling on key stations as part of routine work
  • Carry out leakage surveys of installations according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and rectify any issues found
  • Maintain optimal pressure levels across distribution networks and monitor delta differential pressures across filter separators and scrubbers
  • Install new SMS and regulation stations, ensuring timely servicing and greasing of control valves and regulators
  • Arrange regular oil level checks and maintenance of auto-actuated valves and calibration of safety valves, pressure gauges, and pressure controllers in Main Pipeline Loop (MPL)
  • Repair or replace defective valves, control valves, pressure controllers, and gauges, and arrange timely replacement of filter elements to ensure quality gas supply to customers
  • Ensure proper functioning of control instruments at Station Metering Points (SMS), Filter Separators, MPL-I Regulator Setups, and Inter-Connection Valves
  • Optimize budget utilization and manage store items while providing support to gas control regarding Underground Formation Gas (UFG) analysis
  • Identify and assess risks within their management/ownership scope
  • Develop and implement risk response strategies for identified risks
  • Monitor risks and response strategies under their management
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of information provided for risk reporting
  • Perform daily administrative tasks related to Headquarters (HQ)
  • Maintain HQ installations with regards to minor repairs and parts jobs
  • Follow Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures as the HSE zonal team leader
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by senior management
