Network Engineer Job Description

At a leading enterprise, we are seeking an accomplished Network Engineer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with WAN protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF), LAN/WLAN (DNS, IP addressing, QoS, Spanning Tree, Multicast), Cisco Catalyst switches, and Cisco ISR/ASR routers. Strong troubleshooting skills are required, along with the ability to provide Tier 1/2/3 support for diagnosing and resolving escalated issues.

  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, ensuring system availability and reliability.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, handling new tasks independently.
  • Perform routine network maintenance and system upgrades.
  • Monitor network performance, utilizing tools such as SolarWinds Orion and TACACS.
  • Track resource utilization, analyze trends, and support capacity planning.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 4 to 5 years of experience with WAN protocols, LAN/WLAN, Cisco Catalyst switches, and Cisco ISR/ASR routers.
  • Knowledge of NG firewalls (multi-vendor) and security products/practices.
  • Familiarity with wireless access controllers and access points.
  • Project experience implementing core infrastructure, networking, and cloud-based services.

As a Network Engineer at this enterprise, you will work collaboratively with internal and external teams to resolve issues efficiently. A strong understanding of ITIL practices and operational excellence is essential. Proficiency in Cisco IOS, Cisco ASA/Palo Alto firewalls, Fortinet Wireless, SolarWinds, and other network management tools is also required.
