The Role – IoT Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled IoT Solutions Specialist to join our team. This autonomous role will see you install, configure and support the IoT solutions for multiple clients across various industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IoT Solution Deployment: Lead the preparation, installation/configuration of software and equipment for clients including post-go-live support.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Maintain IT and industrial IoT infrastructure. Visit customer sites to troubleshoot any issues, implement fixes and coordinate with the product team to communicate with wider R&D research.
  • Sales Support: Work with Sales to implement trials and site surveys to ensure our technical solution matches the realities of customers' needs, machines and factory environment.
  • Hardware Configuration: Configure and test hardware components in preparation for installation.
  • Quality Assurance: Test installs and help customers validate that our devices are capturing accurate data.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Coordinate with Sales and Customer Success teams to fix technical problems or install replacement equipment.
  • Product Development: Work with the product team to identify new technologies that could be used to serve customer needs and build prototype or MVP solutions.

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong experience with Python and knowledge of C# or C/C++. Linux operating system knowledge and experience are a must.
  • Project Management: Previous experience of delivering projects in an Agile environment.
  • Software Development: Familiarity with TDD and open-source development tools and methodologies.
  • Embedded Systems: Knowledge of embedded systems security mechanisms.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong debug and problem-solving skills using the latest tools.
  • Coding Skills: Experienced developing and debugging multithreaded and/or multiprocess code.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to understand complex issues and discuss them via phone, email and other methods.
  • Flexibility: Flexible, can-do approach.
  • Customer-Facing: Consultancy or other customer-facing role.

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience in software development.
  • Networking Protocols: Knowledge of networking protocols and standards including TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, UPnP, DLNA, HLS or MPEG-DASH.
  • Security Experience: Experience of secure interfacing with head-end systems.
  • Agile Methodologies: Scrum methodologies.
