Architectural Documentation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Documentation Specialist to join our heritage conservation initiative in Northern Areas. The ideal candidate will contribute to architectural documentation, heritage assessment, and conservation planning.

The selected professional will be responsible for conducting site surveys, creating detailed drawings, and assessing the condition of historic structures. They will also prepare accurate AutoCAD drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and detailed condition maps.

In addition, the successful candidate will participate in photographic documentation using DSLR and drone-based surveys. They will assist in developing a strategic phased conservation plan, incorporating heritage principles, material compatibility, and risk mitigation.

The chosen individual will support report writing, data organization, and heritage analysis aligned with international conservation charters. They will create graphic presentations, diagrams, and visual materials to communicate conservation strategies and spatial understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough site surveys to gather essential data on historic structures.
  • Create detailed drawings, including plans, sections, and elevations, using AutoCAD software.
  • Assess the condition of historic structures, documenting their current state and recommending necessary repairs or conservation efforts.
  • Prepare accurate condition reports, detailing the status of each structure.
  • Develop a comprehensive conservation plan, outlining the necessary steps to preserve and protect historic structures.
  • Collaborate with our core technical team, including structural and conservation specialists, to ensure a cohesive approach to heritage conservation.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
  • Strong professional experience in architectural documentation and design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Excellent freehand sketching, site note-taking, and architectural illustration skills.
  • Strong photographic skills for documentation and condition mapping.
  • Capable of producing well-structured technical and narrative reports.
  • Strong graphic communication skills for producing maps, diagrams, and illustrated documents.
  • Understanding of heritage conservation principles and charters.
  • Ability to work in remote and high-altitude field conditions.
  • Collaborative and adaptive mindset in cross-disciplinary environments.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Experience with heritage, vernacular architecture, or cultural landscape projects.
  • Familiarity with traditional materials such as rubble stone, mud mortar, and timber construction.
  • Interest in capacity building, local craft revival, and sustainable conservation practices.
  • Fluency in English and regional languages.
