Job Title: Senior Corporate Legal Advisor

Job Description:

The key purpose of this position is to ensure that the company's contracts are prepared in a way that protects its interests and avoids unnecessary litigation. This involves carrying out activities required to adhere to corporate bylaws, charter, and other government documents.

Responsibilities:
  1. Review and vet agreements/contracts, including service level agreements, gas sale and purchase agreements, and contracts of procured services governed by Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Rules.
  2. Evaluate the terms of agreements to ensure they serve the company's interests, highlighting any detrimental terms for removal or change as needed.
  3. Stay updated on amendments to laws, rules, and regulations affecting SSGC operations and contracts, providing recommendations to address legal implications.
  4. Study drafts of impending legislation and assist in evaluating their impact on SSGC, suggesting strategies accordingly.
  5. Coordinate with various departments to resolve issues related to contract drafting or execution.
  6. Finalize draft contracts, MoUs, and non-disclosure agreements after review.
  7. Assess revisions to existing contracts for legal implications and safeguard the company's interests.
  8. Provide feedback on tenancy and lease agreements.
  9. Evaluate court decisions on legal issues and discuss options with superiors.
  10. Coordinate with external law firms for legal opinions and meet their requirements.
  11. Negotiate gas sale agreements with exploration & production companies while ensuring legal compliance.
  12. Offer legal advice and guidance on user department queries.
  13. Represent the company at government and legal forums on legislative matters.
  14. Support managing lawsuits involving the company in conjunction with legal counsel.
  15. Attend court hearings as necessary.
  16. Aid junior legal staff in drafting and responses.
  17. Identify, assess, and develop responses to legal risks.
  18. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of legal risks.
  19. Perform other tasks assigned by superiors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Candidates should have 14 years of relevant experience and 5 years of Bar enrollment. LLM qualification is preferred, while postgraduate diploma/diploma in corporate law will be considered an additional advantage.
