The Dean of Faculty is responsible for leading and managing the faculty's academic and administrative activities. This includes developing and implementing strategic plans, exercising supervisory control over staff, appraising and assigning key performance indicators, preparing budgets, facilitating appointments, and ensuring supervision of examinations.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a 5-year strategic plan in line with the university's goals.
- Exercise supervisory control over academic and non-academic staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Appraise and assign key performance indicators to faculty teams on personal and career development plans.
- Prepare annual budgets detailing financial variables and new/existing programs.
- Facilitate appointments according to university guidelines and rules.
- Ensure supervision of examination arrangements, maintaining academic integrity.
- Assign responsibilities to teaching and non-teaching staff at all geographic locations, promoting collaboration and teamwork.
- Review and approve course offerings, allocations, and timetables, ensuring alignment with university policies.
- Permit students to proceed on industrial and study tours, fostering experiential learning.
- Chair committees and participate in departmental decision-making and governance, promoting academic excellence.
- Lead and develop internal and external networks to foster collaboration and share information and ideas, driving innovation.
- Promote and market the work of the department nationally and internationally, enhancing its reputation.
- Exercise academic leadership for all subject area teaching and research activities, advancing knowledge.
- Teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy, contributing to student learning.
- Lead high-impact factor research in related areas and collaborative partnerships with other educational institutions or external bodies, driving advancements.
- A Ph.D. degree in a relevant field from a recognized university/institute.
- A proven record of academic achievement, including publications, research, and teaching experience.
- Leadership Experience: Extensive experience in academic administration or senior leadership roles within an educational institution, minimum 5 to 10 years.
- Teaching and Research Experience: A strong background in teaching, research, and mentoring students and faculty members.
- Experience in Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Ability to manage financial resources for the faculty.
- Strategic Leadership: Ability to set and execute long-term academic goals, advance the mission of the faculty, and make strategic decisions that shape the academic direction.
- Academic Management: Strong management skills in overseeing departments, coordinating curriculum development, promoting academic research, and fostering an environment of academic excellence.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Networking: Ability to build partnerships with other universities, research institutions, and industry stakeholders to enhance the faculty's recognition and research output.
