IoT Platform Architect

We're seeking a seasoned professional to lead the development of an advanced IoT platform for Android-based smartwatches.

  • This project will heavily rely on real-time communication using MQTT, as well as broader protocols and device lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop an end-to-end IoT platform architecture
  • Create secure, scalable services for device communication, monitoring, firmware/job management, and real-time data processing
  • Develop RESTful APIs and WebSocket/MQTT services for two-way communication
  • Build responsive frontend interfaces using Angular, React, or Next.js
  • Design normalized PostgreSQL schemas with performance in mind
  • Set up job/command dispatching, remote firmware updates, and OTA handling logic
  • Ensure robust telemetry, error logging, and debugging capabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Firmware, DevOps, QA, Product)
  • Conduct code reviews, write test cases, and enforce code quality practices
  • Research and integrate device security best practices (authentication, encryption, etc.)

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of full stack development experience with Node.js, PostgreSQL, and React/Next
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (query tuning, indexing, JSONB usage)
  • Solid understanding of device-cloud interaction, including heartbeat, telemetry, and remote commands
  • Familiarity with TLS, JWT/OAuth2, and MQTT authentication mechanisms
  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD, Git, and deployment automation
  • Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and fault-tolerant architectures

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with IoT brokers like EMQX, Mosquitto, HiveMQ, etc.
  • Familiarity with AWS IoT Core, GCP IoT, or custom MQTT deployments
  • Knowledge of edge devices, Android-based wearables, and embedded system constraints
