Job Summary:

A network engineer with a focus on monitoring and maintaining the performance, availability, and security of an organization's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing real-time network surveillance, responding to incidents and alerts, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with IT teams to resolve issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network systems, devices (routers, switches, firewalls, servers), and overall network performance 24/7.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to network alerts and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Perform network maintenance, upgrades, and configuration changes under supervision.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, incidents, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to ensure seamless network operations.
  • Provide regular status reports on network performance and incident resolution.
  • Participate in shift rotations to ensure continuous network coverage.

Requirements:

The following skills and qualifications are required to successfully perform the job:

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals such as IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
  • Proficient with network devices from vendors like Cisco and Juniper.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
  • Ability to interpret logs, alerts, and diagnostic data for troubleshooting.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills to clearly report technical information.
  • Capacity to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments with attention to detail.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification required for the position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a NOC or similar network support role.
  • Prior hands-on experience with network hardware and software.
