Job Summary:

The Community Outreach Coordinator will play a key role in strengthening awareness and support to vulnerable women and girls at the community level. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team working towards preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Outreach and Awareness-Raising

  • Conduct regular outreach within communities to raise awareness of GBV risks and the availability of GBV response services.

  • Build relationships with community stakeholders, fostering trust and cooperation.

  • Promote support for survivors, ensuring they have access to essential resources and services.

  • Hold individual and small-group discussions on GBV-related topics, promoting education and understanding.

  • Invite and mobilize community participation in GBV prevention and risk mitigation efforts.

  • Facilitate discussions aligned with relevant approaches, such as SASA Together and EMAP.

  • Support the distribution of dignity kits, where necessary, to enhance community members' well-being.

  • Respond with compassion and discretion to anyone disclosing GBV or requiring individual support, ensuring timely referrals to appropriate services.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Seek and document community feedback, informing program improvements and adjustments.

  • Monitor the distribution of dignity kits, where relevant, to ensure effective utilization.

  • Track prevention and risk mitigation program activities, measuring progress and identifying areas for growth.

Coordination, Advocacy, and Representation

  • Coordinate regularly with community stakeholders to strengthen GBV risk mitigation and prevention efforts.

  • Collaborate with other sector mobilizers/outreach teams to maximize impact and efficiency.

  • Promote a survivor-centered approach in all activities, prioritizing their needs and dignity.

  • Represent program goals and GBV standards, advocating for policy changes and resource allocation.

Security and Conduct

  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies, maintaining a safe working environment.

  • Foster a culture of respect, non-discrimination, and responsible use of power among staff and partners.

  • Exemplify core principles of GBV programming, including nonviolence, promotion of gender equality, and respect for human rights.

  • Contribute to a positive image and overall credibility of the program, adhering to the Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience working with community groups, demonstrating your ability to build relationships and facilitate collective action.
  • Demonstrated commitment to core principles of GBV programming, including gender equality and survivor-centered support services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills to lead individual and group discussions, promoting engagement and understanding.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local language requirements.
