Xactimate/Cost Estimator

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing bids, and supporting project planning and execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs.

Key responsibilities include preparing detailed Xactimate estimates for fire, smoke, and water damage claims, writing estimates for Emergency Mitigation Services (EMS) and restoration work, collaborating with public adjusters, policyholders, and contractors to ensure estimates reflect the full scope of legitimate repairs.

Additionally, the candidate will review and analyze damage reports, photos, and other documentation to create accurate and comprehensive estimates. Analyzing project specifications and blueprints to accurately estimate materials, labor, and equipment costs is also essential.

Preparation of detailed scope of work, quantity take offs and cost estimations by studying semantics and 3D rendered designs are crucial aspects of the role.

Effective communication with clients, architects, and stakeholders to address questions and concerns regarding project costs and budgets is vital.

Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials costs, and construction methods to provide accurate estimates is also necessary.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • Proven experience as a construction estimator in residential construction
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, RSMeans, AutoCad, Planswift, Prima Vera P6) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment in the night shift and meet tight deadlines
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) is a plus
