Job Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Manager – Imports to oversee and manage the entire import operations of our organization. The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years of proven experience in import procedures, vendor management, and international trade compliance. This role demands strong leadership, negotiation skills, and expertise in handling documentation, clearing agents, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end import operations, including procurement, shipping, customs clearance, and documentation.
  • Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Negotiate contracts, freight rates, and payment terms with vendors and service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade policies, and import/export laws.
  • Monitor and track shipments to avoid delays and resolve any import-related issues.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain import documentation such as invoices, packing lists, L/Cs, and shipping documents.
  • Coordinate with finance and accounts for duty/tax payments and cost management.
  • Develop strategies to optimize import costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers while exploring new sourcing opportunities.
  • Lead and supervise the import team, ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in import operations, supply chain, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of customs laws, HS codes, duties, tariffs, and international trade regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficient in import/export documentation and ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
