Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete import process including LC opening, shipping documentation, customs clearance, and logistics coordination.
  • Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to ensure smooth and timely delivery of shipments.
  • Negotiate freight rates, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize import costs.
  • Monitor and manage import budgets, forecasts, and cost analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with government import/export laws, regulations, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date import records and report to management on shipment statuses and cost trends.
  • Coordinate with finance and procurement departments for payment processing and reconciliation.
  • Handle correspondence with banks, insurance companies, and government authorities regarding import procedures.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and minimize delays or errors.
  • Supervise and guide junior staff involved in import and logistics operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
  • 5–6 years of proven experience in import operations, preferably in a manufacturing, trading, or FMCG setup.
  • Strong understanding of LC processes, HS codes, and import documentation (BL, Invoice, Packing List, COO, etc.).
  • Excellent coordination and negotiation skills with vendors and logistics partners.
  • Strong command over MS Office, ERP systems, and SAP.
  • In-depth understanding of Pakistan Customs procedures and international trade regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
