About the Role:

OPM is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Customs Clearance and Documentation Officer. This role is critical to our import and export operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all customs clearing activities, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of documents, and coordinating with shipping lines and port authorities to facilitate the smooth clearance of our cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, verify, and arrange all necessary documentation for import and export shipments, including but not limited to: Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Bills of Lading, and Air Waybills.
  • Ensure all documents are accurate, complete, and compliant with Pakistan Customs regulations and international trade laws.
  • Prepare and electronically file Goods Declarations (GDs) through WeBOC and PSW
  • Should have knowledge of HS Codes, documents and import/export operations.
  • Should have knowledge about shipping lines and port documentation.
  • Coordinate effectively with shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders, and transport companies to ensure seamless movement of cargo.
  • Handle communications with terminal operators and port authorities regarding cargo.
  • Process and verify charges from shipping lines, airlines, port terminals, and other service providers (e.g., freight charges, terminal handling charges (THC), port dues, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit payment requests for all clearing-related expenses.
  • Maintain meticulous and up-to-date physical and digital records of all shipping documents, customs filings, and financial transactions.
  • Provide regular status updates on the clearance process for all shipments to management.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role, specifically in customs clearance and freight forwarding in Pakistan.
  • Must have proven experience and proficiency in using the WeBOC system for GD filing.
  • In-depth knowledge of Pakistan Customs procedures, import/export policies, HS Code classification, and customs valuation.
  • Understanding of documentation requirements for various types of cargo (e.g., perishable, hazardous, restricted items).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective liaison with government authorities and third-party vendors.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Existing contacts and a good professional reputation with shipping lines, port terminals, and customs officials.
