Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated 
Smart Home / Building Automation Engineer
 to join our growing team. This role involves designing, programming, integrating, and maintaining intelligent residential and commercial automation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IoT ecosystems, automation platforms, communication protocols, and end-to-end system architecture.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Engineering

• Design and engineer smart home and building automation systems tailored to client requirements.
• Define functional specifications for systems integrating lighting, HVAC, AV, security, energy, and access control.
• Prepare system schematics, layouts, and integration plans in collaboration with design and construction teams.

Integration & Programming

• Integrate automation platforms such as Control4, Crestron, Lutron, Savant, Home Assistant, or similar.
• Program and configure smart devices, control processors, sensors, actuators, and hubs.
• Develop automation logic, scenes, and control routines based on user behavior and environmental conditions.

Installation & Commissioning

• Assist in the setup, configuration, and commissioning of hardware and software systems.
• Conduct on-site troubleshooting and diagnostics to ensure proper system performance and interoperability.

Client Engagement & Support

• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical training, user documentation, and after-sales support for installed systems.

Maintenance & Upgrades

• Monitor system performance and proactively manage firmware, software updates, and patches.
• Recommend and implement system enhancements and expansions based on user feedback and emerging technologies.

Technical Skills

Protocols & Communication Standards:

• Deep understanding of home/building automation communication protocols including:
• CoS

• Additional familiarity with

• Experience with automation ecosystems such as

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of programming/scripting languages like 
  Python

  Lua
  , or 
  JavaScript

Networking & System Integration:

• Strong grasp of 
  networking principles
   (IP addressing, VLANs, QoS, NAT, port forwarding)
• Ability to integrate disparate subsystems and APIs into unified control environments

Electrical & Control Systems:

• Knowledge of 
  low-voltage electrical systems

  power supplies
  , 
  relay logic
  , and 
  sensor-actuator interfaces

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in 
  Electrical Engineering
  , 
  Computer Engineering
  , 
  Mechatronics
  , 
  Automation
  , or a related field

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in smart home or building automation environments
• Proven track record in system design, programming, and integration of automation solutions

Certifications (Preferred):

• Certifications such as 
  KNX Partner
  , 
  Crestron Certified Programmer
  , 
  Lutron Programming
  , or 
  Control4 Technician
   are advantageous

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams

• Comfortable working on-site and remotely as needed
