The Manager International Logistics oversees and manages all import and export freight forwarding activities. This includes vendor management, negotiations, regulatory compliance, shipment execution, heavy equipment handling and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective, timely, and compliant logistics operations

Responsibilities

1. Freight Forwarding Operations

  • Plan, organize, and manage all freight forwarding activities for imports and exports.
  • Handle sea, air, and land shipments with efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure timely booking, documentation, and coordination with carriers, shipping lines, airlines, and customs agents.
  • Monitor shipment movements and proactively resolve delays or exceptions.

2. Vendor & Carrier Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics service providers (LSPs).
  • Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and service terms with LSPs for cost savings and service improvements.
  • Evaluate performance of service providers against KPIs (cost, lead time, service quality).

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of shipping documents (B/L, AWB, invoices, packing lists, COO, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, international trade laws, and company policies.

4. Cost & Performance Control

  • Monitor freight costs and identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising service quality.
  • Conduct freight spend analysis and budgeting.
  • Implement cost control measures and track variances.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with export sales and export operations teams for shipment planning and execution.
  • Provide shipment status updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Act as escalation point for logistics-related disputes and delays.

6. Strategic Development

  • Develop and implement freight forwarding strategies aligned with company's supply chain goals.
  • Explore alternative routes, modes, and service providers to optimize transit times and costs.
  • Stay updated with market trends, freight indices, and global trade policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in freight forwarding or International logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping, Incoterms, customs clearance, and trade compliance.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP/SCM systems and freight tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
