Lead People & Culture (Builder Track)

About the role

Jawaan Champions is investing in culture first. We're looking for a hands-on People & Culture lead who can help our teams work better together as we grow in Karachi and expand across Sindh and, over time, other provinces. This isn't an HR admin role. It's about shaping culture, aligning teams, coaching managers, and putting in simple, scalable people practices grounded in our mission.

 Mission: To empower Pakistani youth through accessible, inclusive, and high-quality modified sports programs that build physical literacy, character, and pathways to excellence.

 Values we live by: Inclusion, Excellence, Innovation, Integrity, Empowerment, Collaboration. You'll report to the Project Director and partner closely with team leads across programs, training, school partnerships, and operations.

What you'll do

 Bring our values to life

o Facilitate sessions to translate values into everyday behaviors for all teams (e.g., how

Inclusion shows up in school visits, how Excellence shows up in coach training).

o Start simple rituals: monthly town halls, team retros, demo days for program wins, and

peer recognition tied to values.

 Create alignment and ways-of-working

o Set up a clear execution rhythm: weekly reviews, quarterly planning, and a shared

decision/roadmap log.

o Introduce OKRs/lightweight goals so each team knows priorities, owners, and outcomes.

o Build team charters and RACIs for cross-functional work (e.g., school onboarding, coach

deployment, M&E).

 Coach and enable managers

o Help managers run effective 1:1s, give actionable feedback, delegate well, and handle

tough conversations.

o Facilitate mediation when teams get stuck; teach practical conflict resolution tools.

 Build people practices that scale

o Launch a quarterly performance check-in focused on outcomes and behaviors.

o Create culture-first hiring: structured interviews, scorecards, and a consistent

on boarding that works across locations.

o Keep policies crisp and human: code of conduct, anti-harassment, grievance, leave, and

field/remote norms—adaptable as we grow.

 Listen and act

o Run short pulse surveys and listening circles with coaches, trainers, and ops staff;

publish actions and follow through.

o Maintain a transparent issue tracker so people see problems getting solved.

What success looks like (first 6 months)

 Values and behaviors are published, understood, and referenced in check-ins and team

meetings.

 Each team has clear quarterly goals; progress is visible, and decision logs reduce confusion.

 Managers run regular 1:1s; feedback quality improves; fewer cross-team escalations.

 New hires hit their outcomes more consistently across Karachi and at least one

additional city in Sindh.

 Policies are acknowledged by everyone; people know where to find them.

 Program delivery improves with fewer blockers between field teams, training, and ops.

What you bring

 5–8 years in People Ops, Organizational Development, Change, or Program/Agile Coaching.

 Strong facilitation and mediation skills; comfortable with workshops and tough conversations.

 Experience introducing OKRs or similar goal systems and simple execution cadences.

 Clear, empathetic communicator with high integrity and discretion.

 Tools: Google Workspace, Slack/Teams, Notion/Trello/Jira (or similar).

 Nice-to-have: experience in education, sports-for-development, NGOs, or government

partnerships.

 Salary: Rs. 80,000 to 100,000/month (gross) along with perks and benefits like medical etc.

o Manager effectiveness scores up +15 by Month 6 (from pulse/360).

 People ops basics:

o 85% of new hires achieve 30-day onboarding outcomes; consistent across

locations.

o Handbook/policies acknowledged by 100% of staff by Day 45.

 Scalability:

o Onboarding, rituals, and check-ins working in Karachi and at least one new city in Sindh
