We are seeking a highly experienced
Head of Design and Engineering
to lead the technical function of our solar / renewable energy business. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all engineering and design activities, ensuring technical excellence, innovation, quality, and regulatory compliance across solar projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in solar PV system design along with strong leadership capabilities and the ability to collaborate effectively across commercial, sales, and project execution teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Design and Engineering Department, including solar PV system design, electrical engineering, and structural engineering functions.
  • Oversee the complete engineering lifecycle of solar projects, from concept development and feasibility studies to detailed design and execution support.
  • Ensure all engineering designs comply with applicable technical standards, quality benchmarks, regulatory codes, and client specifications.
  • Work closely with Sales, Business Development, and Commercial teams to deliver optimized, competitive, and technically robust solutions.
  • Review, validate, and approve engineering designs, technical proposals, drawings, calculations, and project documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership and expert support to project execution teams by resolving design issues and on-site technical challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and best engineering practices within the department.
  • Develop, mentor, and retain engineering talent through performance management, training plans, and succession planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum
    6+ years of experience
    in the solar industry with strong hands-on exposure to solar PV design and engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in
    Electrical Power Engineering or Renewable Energy Engineering
    ; Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • Proven leadership experience managing design and engineering teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, including system sizing, layout design, electrical and structural engineering, and performance modeling.
  • Experience working on
    utility-scale, commercial & industrial (C&I), and/or rooftop solar projects
    .
  • Proficiency in solar design, simulation, and engineering software tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
