The Key Account Manager – Pharmacy is responsible for managing and growing strategic relationships with key pharmacy accounts, including retail pharmacy chains, hospital pharmacies, and institutional buyers. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, ensuring product availability, executing promotional strategies, and maintaining long-term partnerships with pharmacy clients to drive sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:1. Account Management:
- Manage and grow assigned key pharmacy accounts (retail chains, hospital pharmacies, distributors).
- Develop account plans aligned with business objectives and sales targets.
- Ensure product availability, timely deliveries, and optimal shelf presence.
2. Sales & Revenue Growth:
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within assigned accounts.
- Work with pricing and commercial teams to negotiate favorable terms and contracts.
3. Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with pharmacy buyers, procurement teams, and key stakeholders.
- Act as the single point of contact for all account-related matters.
- Resolve client issues and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
4. Coordination & Execution:
- Coordinate with internal teams (supply chain, marketing, finance) to ensure smooth account operations.
- Support the implementation of marketing campaigns and trade promotions in key accounts.
- Monitor competitor activity and report market intelligence.
5. Reporting & Forecasting:
- Track and report on sales performance, forecasts, and market trends.
- Maintain updated records of client interactions and transactions in CRM tools.
Key Requirements:Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.
- MBA or PG Diploma in Sales & Marketing (preferred).
Experience:
- 3–7 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales or key account management, preferably handling pharmacy clients.
- Prior experience with retail pharmacy chains, hospital pharmacies, or large distributors is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong understanding of the pharmacy and healthcare sales ecosystem.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and deliver under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Sales growth and revenue targets per account
- Customer satisfaction and retention rate
- New product placement and activation in pharmacies
- Execution of promotional activities
- Collection efficiency and credit management (if applicable)
