
Business Development Executive and Project Closer

We are looking for a Business Development Executive and Project Closer (WordPress / Upwork Bidder) who can identify business growth opportunities in the WordPress niche and develop strategies to increase company sales. The candidate must also be able to lead client meetings/demos and close projects on the call. The incumbent should be able to identify underperforming WordPress services (e.g., website builds, WooCommerce, performance/security, maintenance), develop an in-depth knowledge of our offerings, pricing, and policies, and improve the quality and win-rate of Upwork proposals. You should also ensure that the company is able to achieve revenue targets.
The successful candidate should be proficient at negotiating business deals and able to make sound decisions that can benefit the company. An ideal business development officer should have strong business acumen as well as demonstrate excellent management, communication, and analytical skills, with practical familiarity with WordPress solutions and client expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and research potential clients (primarily on Upwork) for WordPress websites, WooCommerce stores, performance/security, integrations, and maintenance retainers
- Coordinate with sales and WordPress delivery teams to develop mutually beneficial proposals, timelines, and estimates
- Developing and sustaining solid relationships with company stakeholders and customers; maintain a clean pipeline and timely follow-ups
- Analyzing customer feedback and Upwork win/loss data to determine whether customers are satisfied with company products and services and to refine proposals
- Providing insight into WordPress product development and competitive positioning (themes/builders like Elementor/Divi, ACF/CPT, common plugins, hosting/migrations, SEO basics)
- Analyzing financial data and developing effective strategies to reduce business costs and increase company profits (pricing tiers, retainers, upsell paths)
- Conducting market research to identify new business opportunities in the WordPress ecosystem (headless WP, WooCommerce add-ons, performance/security packages)
- Collaborating with company executives to determine the most viable, cost-effective approach to pursue new business opportunities
- Meeting with potential clients to present company offerings and negotiate business deals
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business management or administration, finance, accounting, marketing, or related field
- At least 1 - 2 years' experience working as a business development officer or Upwork bidder for web/WordPress projects
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (and comfort with CRM/Google Workspace for proposals and tracking)
- The ability to travel as needed
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and management skills
- Exceptional negotiation and decision-making skills
- Effective communication skills with strong written English for proposals and client messaging
- Strong business acumen and working knowledge of WordPress (themes, page builders, WooCommerce, common plugins, hosting/migrations, performance/security)
- Detail-oriented
