Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage financial operations specific to the freight forwarding industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, cost control, billing, and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities: Accounting & Bookkeeping
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions.
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Monitor and manage general ledger entries related to freight and logistics.
Billing & Invoicing
  • Generate and process freight invoices, including ocean freight, air freight, import/export charges, warehousing, and customs duties.
  • Coordinate with operations and sales departments to ensure proper billing.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
Taxation & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws (e.g., VAT, GST, withholding tax).
  • Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits.
  • Support regulatory and statutory compliance processes.
Cost Analysis & Control
  • Monitor operational costs such as transport, handling, and customs clearance.
  • Analyze profitability of shipments and suggest cost optimization.
Cash Flow Management
  • Monitor bank transactions and perform daily bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely collection from clients and payments to vendors.
  • Support treasury functions and manage petty cash.
Requirements: Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/ACCA preferred).
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of freight documentation (BL, AWB, D/O, etc.) and Incoterms.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or freight-specific ERP systems).
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Excellent Excel skills and financial modeling.
Soft Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred
  • Experience working with international logistics or customs processes.
  • Knowledge of multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange accounting.
