Optometry/Orthoptics Instructor

The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting annual targets assigned by the Head of Department, and working to achieve high-quality teaching and learning outcomes for students. Key responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, developing own teaching skills, contributing to planning of teaching programs, and facilitating experiential learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet annual targets as set by the HOD.
  • Secure a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students.
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with faculty workload policy.
  • Develop own teaching and learning skills.
  • Foster debate, critical discourse, and rational thinking among students.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements.
  • Assess work and examinations, providing feedback to students.
  • Maintain records of student academic performance.
  • Execute mentoring of 15-20 students.
  • Update data in VLE and other required software.
  • Link Islamic and ethical values in teaching.
  • Participate in departmental and university committees.
  • Ensure teaching content aligns with RIU mission.
  • Address subordinates' and students' needs.
  • Randomly check student attendance.
  • Contribute to publications or disseminate research findings.
  • Pursue practical application of research findings.
  • Carry out independent research and act as project leader.
  • Act as line manager and supervise others.
