Payroll Officer Job Description

About the Position:

The Payroll Officer is responsible for managing payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee salaries, and maintaining compliance with local regulations. This role requires a solid understanding of labor laws, taxation, and payroll systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees, ensuring accurate salary calculations, statutory compliance, and timely disbursements. Conduct monthly payroll reconciliations to resolve discrepancies and maintain integration between payroll, HRIS, and finance systems.
  • Payroll Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports to support management and finance teams in decision-making and compliance. Assist with internal and external audits by providing timely and well-documented payroll data.
  • Continuous Improvement Responsibilities: Regularly review and optimize payroll processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Identify opportunities for automation or system enhancements and support their implementation. Analyze payroll data to detect trends, discrepancies, or issues, and provide actionable recommendations for process improvements.
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll, taxation, and benefits. Provide timely, accurate, and helpful assistance to ensure employee concerns are addressed effectively and professionally.
  • Compliance Responsibilities: Ensure all payroll operations comply with local labor laws and tax regulations. Oversee payroll administration, ensuring timely reporting, accurate tax filings, and adherence to statutory requirements.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in payroll management.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll systems.
  • Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., Timetrax, SAP, Workday) and Microsoft Excel.
