Job Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze amendments to laws, rules, and regulations made by federal, provincial, and statutory bodies to assess their impact on operations.
  • Provide expert advice on complex legal matters, utilizing relevant laws, rules, and regulations to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and departments through meetings and consultations to address key legal implications.
  • Develop comprehensive briefs, replies, opinions, and working papers based on thorough research and analysis.
  • Stay up-to-date on impending legislation and evaluate its potential effect on the company, advising management on necessary steps to protect interests.
  • Review and refine briefs prepared by junior legal staff and external counsel to ensure accurate representation of the company's viewpoint and safeguarding of its interests.
  • Identify and assess risks under your management and develop effective risk response strategies.
  • Monitor and update risk response strategies as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate information for risk reporting purposes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong background in law with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Enrolled as a barrister for at least 3 years.
