Rural Surgery Leader Fellowship

Job DescriptionAs a fellow in the Rural Surgery Leadership Program, you will participate in the care of patients with essential and emergency surgical problems, under the supervision of experienced faculty members. You will also engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, providing guidance and mentorship to students and junior faculty members. Additionally, you will develop leadership skills through specific didactic modules, focusing on healthcare systems, delivery, financing, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Practice: Participate in patient care, ensuring exceptional outcomes in resource-constrained environments.
- Teaching and Mentorship: Engage students and junior faculty members in learning opportunities, fostering growth and development.
- Leadership Development: Develop skills in healthcare leadership, including strategic planning, team management, and change implementation.
- Global Experience: Gain hands-on experience in providing surgical care in lower-middle-income countries.
- Completed surgery training program (minimum duration of 4 years) and eligibility for FCPS Part II or an equivalent international certifying examination.
- Appropriate credentials as a general surgeon, including but not limited to FCPS, FRCS, or ABS certification.
- Prior experience working in a rural area is desirable.
