Procurement Strategist

The role of a Procurement Strategist is pivotal in an organization's supply chain, responsible for strategically identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers to procure goods and services efficiently and cost-effectively.

This position involves finding, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers, managing contracts, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. It extends beyond mere purchasing, encompassing a broad range of duties that directly impact a company's bottom line and operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies: Align sourcing plans with organizational goals, identify opportunities for value creation, and leverage data analysis for informed decision-making.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage agreements: Secure favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, and service level agreements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers: Foster partnerships based on trust, reliability, and mutual benefits, ensuring long-term supply chain resilience.

Cost Optimization and Process Enhancement:

  • Analyze and calculate procurement costs: Track expenditures, conduct benchmarking, and identify opportunities for cost reduction, driving purchasing decisions based on data-driven insights.
  • Optimize sourcing procedures: Implement strategic sourcing methodologies and technologies to streamline procurement processes and enhance efficiency.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Lead collaboration with stakeholders and internal teams: Ensure clear, concise, and timely communication with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and senior management to avoid misunderstandings and build rapport.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Write procurement documentation and statements: Create and manage Request for Proposals (RFPs) and other necessary documentation.
  • Review, manage and centrally store contracts: Ensure compliance with terms and conditions, legal requirements, and industry regulations.

Requirements & Skills:

A successful candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field, along with 3+ years of experience in project coordination, sourcing, or international trade.

They should also have strong knowledge of material acquisition and import/export processes, especially with China, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in using tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, and project management software.

The candidate must be proficient in the Chinese language.

Work Environment:

The successful candidate will work in-person at our office and must have their own laptop.

Working Hours:

According to Eastern Standard Time (EST), aligned with the East Coast and New York City.
