Strategic Financial Leader

The Senior Financial Strategist oversees the financial sustainability of a non-profit advancing development initiatives in Pakistan.

This role ensures accurate financial transactions, compliance with local regulations, and timely reporting while leading the finance team to meet donor requirements.

The Senior Financial Strategist consolidates cloud-based accounting systems, tracks project and contract portfolios, monitors reporting deadlines, and manages donor and partner receivables/payables.

They serve as the technical lead on taxation, ensuring timely and accurate tax reporting and annual filings, and supporting grants Financial proposal development.

Working closely with the Managing Director, the Senior Financial Strategist implements financial policies, ensures donor agreement compliance, and maintains audit-ready financial records.

Additionally, they conduct financial analysis and produce expenditure reports to support strategic decision-making, while streamlining financial operations for efficiency.

• Financial Management and Budgeting
  • Oversee operational budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with local regulations.
  • Monitor regular financial operations in coordination with operations and program units to ensure accuracy and transparency in all transactions.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with department leads.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Conduct financial analysis and produce expenditure reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain comprehensive financial records to facilitate internal and external audits and oversee financial health of the organization.
• Compliance and Taxation
  • Evaluate compliance with local government regulations.
  • Serve as the technical lead on taxation, managing timely and accurate tax reporting and annual tax return filings.
  • Implement robust internal controls to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
• Grant and Contract Management
  • Consolidate and coordinate financial data for projects, ensuring accurate tracking of project and contract portfolios.
  • Monitor reporting deadlines, manage partner and donor receivables/payables and ensure adherence to financial policies and donor contractual agreements.
  • The Senior Financial Strategist also supports financial proposal development for grants submissions.
• Team Leadership and Coordination
  • Lead the finance team, providing guidance and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement in financial processes.
  • Monitor and update financial operations, variance analysis, and utilize financial software (e.g., QuickBooks /peachtree) to streamline reporting and data management.
• Audit Facilitation
  • Prepare and maintain financial records required for audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and donor standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for statutory and internal audits.

Stakeholder Engagement

Present clear and concise financial reports to the board, donors, and other stakeholders. Communicate financial policies and updates to staff, ensuring organization-wide understanding.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Education
  • Master's degree in accounting and finance ACCA, CIA, CRMA.
• Experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior role, preferably in the non-profit or NGO sector.
  • Proven expertise in taxation, grant management, and financial reporting in the development sector.
• Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of local financial regulations and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
