Job Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Tableau Developer to administer our Tableau Server environment, design and develop complex, high-performance dashboards, and serve as a subject matter expert in data visualization and business intelligence. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of optimizing BI platforms, integrating diverse data sources, and empowering stakeholders with self-service analytics tools.
Key Responsibilities
Tableau Development & Administration:
- Administer and manage Tableau Server, including user management, security roles, performance tuning, and server maintenance.
- Design, develop, and maintain complex, interactive, and visually compelling Tableau dashboards and reports.
- Optimize Tableau extracts (.hyper), data sources, and workbooks for maximum performance and efficiency.
- Implement and advocate for best practices in dashboard design, data visualization, and data governance.
Data Management & Integration:
- Lead the integration of Tableau with various data sources, including cloud platforms, data warehouses (e.g., Teradata, Vertica, SQL Server), and other databases.
- Develop and manage semantic layers to simplify data access for business users.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all BI assets.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand key business questions, and translate them into technical specifications and effective BI solutions.
- Partner with data engineers and analysts to ensure a robust and reliable data pipeline for reporting.
- Provide training and support to business users for self-service analytics and dashboard usage.
Performance Optimization & Innovation:
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in reports, dashboards, and data sources.
- Stay current with the latest Tableau features and industry trends, recommending and implementing improvements to our BI ecosystem.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- 5+ years of proven experience as a BI Developer with a strong focus on Tableau (Desktop, Prep, and Server).
- Hands-on experience with Tableau Server administration (user management, security, permissions, and performance tuning).
- Expertise in developing complex calculations (LODs, table calculations), parameters, and interactive dashboard actions.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Experience optimizing large data extracts and working with live connections to various databases.
- Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts and dimensional modeling.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
