About The Role

We are seeking a full-time Medium Voltage (MV) Electrical Switchgear Design Engineer based at our Karachi Office.
This work is entirely for US clients
. The candidate should possess at least 3-5 years of Medium Voltage switchgear design and engineering experience and have a proven track record of designing medium voltage switchgear.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, specification, and documentation of MV switchgear systems (5kV – 38kV). This role focuses on engineering deliverables including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment layouts, and protection/control design. The engineer will ensure all designs meet ANSI, UL, NEC, NEMA, IEEE and IEC, standards, while aligning with project specifications and client requirements. The candidate is expected to be a detail orientated, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently under the guidance of our client team. Job Requirements

• Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), three-line diagrams, and detailed schematics for MV switchgear assemblies including the integrated LV sections.
• Prepare equipment layouts, general arrangements, and wiring diagrams using CAD tools.
• Perform component selection for breakers, relays, CTs/VTs, busbars, interlocks, and auxiliaries.
• Ensure designs comply with NEC, NEMA, ANSI C37, UL 1558/UL 891 (where LV applicable) standards.
• Conduct short-circuits, load flow, and protection coordination studies (using ETAP, SKM, or similar).
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure proper thermal management, clearances, and arc-flash safety considerations.
• Design for SCADA/PLC integration where digital protection and monitoring are required.
• Prepare
  design packages, equipment specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with
  project and client specifications.
• Generate
  as-built drawings and revisions
  following client feedback or field changes.
• Maintain design accuracy and consistency with
  quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC)
  procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (Power Systems preferred)
• 3–5 years of relevant design experience in MV switchgear.
• Expert skills in AutoCAD/EPLAN and power analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, CYME).
• Knowledge of protection relays (SEL, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, GE, etc.).
• Familiarity with UL, NEC, and NEMA standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with clients
• Solidworks 3D software proficiency a strong plus
• First-hand knowledge of PLCs a plus
• Strong skills in MS Office and PDF Editing tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks

This role requires flexible working hours. Work is performed during regular Pakistan working hours with some overlap with US daytime working hours.
