Human Resources Manager Job Description

Maintains and enhances organizational performance by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources strategies.

  • Serves as a strategic partner to operations by supervising staff; planning, organizing, and implementing administrative systems.
  • Oversees the implementation of Human Resources programs through Human Resources staff.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves problems.

Manages the work of reporting Human Resources staff. Encourages ongoing development of the Human Resources staff.

Develops and monitors an annual plan that includes employee recognition, sports teams and community events support, and benefits administration.

Selects and supervises Human Resources consultants, attorneys, and training specialists, and coordinates company use of insurance brokers, pension administrators, and other outside sources.

Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new developments.

Leads the development of department goals, objectives, and systems. Provides leadership for Human Resources strategic planning.

Establishes HR departmental measurements that support accomplishment of the company's strategic goals.

Manages preparation and maintenance of necessary reports to carry out the functions of the department. Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.

Develops and administers programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.

Participates in executive, management, and company meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

Works with senior leadership to plan philanthropic and charitable giving.

Key Responsibilities

1. Workforce Health and Safety: Ensures the health and safety of the workforce is maintained at a high level.

2. Workforce Development: Develops and implements programs to develop a superior workforce.

3. HR Department Development: Develops and implements plans to enhance the Human Resources department.

4. Employee-Oriented Company Culture: Develops an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance.
