Strategic Purchasing Leadership

Purchasers will oversee the strategic management of purchasing activities to ensure optimal supplier performance and price.

  • The ideal candidate will develop and implement a strategy to add value, mitigate supply chain risk, and deliver cost savings.
  • Manage key supplier relationships and contracts to deliver continuous improvement in delivery of goods and services.
  • Lead a team of Buyers to support business objectives and develop operational plans.
  • Collaborate with senior management to contribute to overall business objectives.
Purchasing Vision and Strategy

Create and implement best practice purchasing vision, strategies, policies, processes, and procedures to improve business performance.

  • Develop purchasing strategies that meet business objectives and operational needs.
  • Evaluate challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
  • Contribute to annual budget process and develop purchasing policy, guidelines, and associated documents.
  • Negotiate contract terms with key suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards, and delivery terms.
Leadership and Team Management

Provide leadership, coordination, and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained to achieve operational and financial metrics.

  • Prepare the annual Purchasing budget and forecasts and manage the budget from identification to completion of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with customer and legal requirements and maintain strong communication between teams.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Technical and Non-Technical procurement.
  • Degree level education in a relevant commercial or engineering discipline.
  • Certified member of The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
  • A proven track record in strategic purchasing leadership delivering effective purchasing strategies, policies, processes, and systems.

Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge and technical understanding of automotive processes and components and supply chain management.
  • Computer literate, especially Excel skills.
