Import Officer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Import Officer to join our team based at Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Karachi. As an Import Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth arrival and delivery of import shipments.

Responsibilities
  1. Verify the arrival of import shipments and related documentation to issue delivery orders to clients and their nominated clearing agents.
  2. Contact airlines and delivery agents to resolve any issues with shipments or documentation.
  3. Create and maintain necessary records for delivery order-related documents.
  4. Coordinate deliveries to ensure timely completion.
  5. Inspect cargo at the airport to ensure completeness of load and even distribution of weight.
  6. Enter shipping information into a computer system using a hand-held scanner or manually.
  7. Check items received against invoices or other documents and record shortages or reject damaged goods.
Requirements
  • Familiarity with computer software (MS Office, internet usage) and ability to work efficiently in this environment.
  • Previous experience as a front desk officer is desirable.

In terms of soft skills, the ideal candidate should possess:

  • Punctuality
  • Consistency and persistence in work
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations
