About the Role

We're hiring an Accounting Associate to handle day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations, and VAT-related tasks for SME clients. You'll work remotely, collaborating with our senior accountant to keep books accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate books in
    Zoho Books
    and
    Xero
    (AR/AP, journals, month-end close).
  • Perform
    bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations
    .
  • Prepare
    VAT workings
    (output/input tax), ensure correct
    tax codes
    , and assist with UAE VAT
    returns/filings
    and supporting schedules.
  • Create and review invoices, bills, expense claims; ensure documentation meets VAT evidence standards.
  • Prepare
    monthly reports
    (P&L, Balance Sheet, AR/AP ageing, cash flow snapshots).
  • Support
    year-end
    and auditor requests; maintain organized workpapers.
  • Monitor deadlines, maintain trackers, and escalate issues proactively.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to resolve discrepancies and collect missing documents.

Must-Have Qualifications & Skills

  • ACCA or CIMA qualified
    (completed).
  • 1–2 years
    of hands-on accounting experience (practice or industry).
  • Practical knowledge of
    UAE VAT rules
    (zero-rating, exempt vs taxable supplies, reverse charge, designated zones, input tax recovery).
  • Proficiency in
    Zoho Books
    and
    Xero
    ; strong
    Excel/Google Sheets
    skills (vlookup/xlookup, pivot tables).
  • Solid grasp of double-entry, accruals/prepayments, and month-end controls.
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and deadline discipline.
  • Clear written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to
    corporate tax basics
    and trial balance to draft FS.
  • Experience with document management and ticketing tools (e.g., Google Drive, Slack, ClickUp, or similar).
