Settlement and Reconciliation Specialist

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Our client, a Karachi-based, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regulated Electronic Money Institution (EMI), seeks to appoint an experienced professional for the following role:

Job Role

As a Settlement & Reconciliation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation and settlement of digital payment transactions including card-based and bank-integrated payment flows. The role requires close collaboration with banking partners, fintech platforms, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies, streamline operations, and maintain financial accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Transaction Reconciliation Oversee reconciliation of Visa, Mastercard, and other card-based transactions across multiple banks, processors, and internal systems to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Settlement Execution & Monitoring Manage daily fund settlement cycles, ensuring timely execution of inward and outward settlements with acquiring/issuing banks and partners
• Dispute & Chargeback Handling Investigate and resolve chargebacks and transaction disputes in accordance with network guidelines and internal SOPs, maintaining proper documentation and turnaround timelines
• Bank Statement Matching Match payment gateway records against bank statements and accounting system entries to verify transaction accuracy and completeness
• Discrepancy Management Identify mismatches or anomalies in transaction data, coordinate with Technology and Product teams for root cause analysis, and drive timely resolution
• Reporting & Dashboard Maintenance Maintain up-to-date reconciliation dashboards and generate periodic reports on settlement health, pending items, and closure status
• Cross-Functional Coordination Liaise with Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Engineering teams to improve reconciliation processes and support product enhancements
• Audit & Documentation Ensure proper documentation of reconciliation processes and readiness for internal and external audits, complying with SBP and industry standards

Education

• Minimum 16 years of education in Commerce and Finance is required. Additional certifications in financial operations, payments, or reconciliation tools will be considered an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 1-3 years of professional experience of hands-on experience in settlement and reconciliation within a fintech, digital wallet, or payment aggregator environment
• Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced fintech environment is highly preferred
• System & Tool Proficiency Skilled in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros), reconciliation software, and understanding of API-based payment integrations
• Industry Knowledge Strong familiarity with card network operations (Visa, Mastercard), digital payment flows, and bank transaction cycles

• Process Ownership Ability to manage reconciliation workflows independently while ensuring SLA compliance and reporting
• Stakeholder Engagement Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to working across multiple departments and partners
• Compliance Mindset Strong understanding of payment regulations, fraud risks, and dispute management protocols
